Like most people on the planet in the spring of 2020, I found myself at home with some extra time on my hands due to the global Coronavirus pandemic. A lot of my professional time is spent playing hand drums but during quarantine perhaps I was reaching back to my roots as a college student practicing mallet instruments and playing the music of John Cage. For a contemporary percussionist Cage is our version of Mozart as he is one of the composers who wrote specifically for our instrument. I started with some pieces I knew of thinking I would just do a quick video for social media. As one thing led to the next I realized there was a nice collection of pieces that became part of the soundtrack to our house during the early days of quarantine.
